Mr. Blowout
Northern Utah’s Trusted Choice for Sprinkler Blowout and Winterization

Why Winterize Your Sprinklers?
Utah winters can do serious damage on your sprinkler system. When cold temperatures hit, the frost level extends below the depth of your sprinkler system’s installed irrigation pipes, heads and valves. To maintain your irrigation system and prevent damage to your property, it’s critical that all water is removed from your system before freezing temperatures arrive. Failure to do so can cause the water to freeze, making the pipes expand and possibly burst!
Many homeowners don’t realize the importance of sprinkler winterization and when springtime comes they’re hit with an unexpected large water bill, or worse – a repair bill.
Your Local Sprinkler Blowout Experts
At Mr.Blowout, our experienced technicians use the blowout method to prepare your irrigation system for winter. Using a portable air compressor, we’ll clear all traces of water from your pipes preventing a future blowout from occurring. This simple, but effective method allows us to ensure your irrigation system is protected from the damage that chilling temperatures can impose on your property.

Ready to Winterize Your Sprinkler System?
Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! When cold temperatures arrive in Northern Utah, the freezing temperatures can wreak serious havoc on your irrigation system. As the ground freezes, so does the water within your pipes. When water freezes it expands – this pressure can cause the pipes to expand, or even burst.
Properly winterizing your sprinkler system is a critical step to maintaining your sprinkler system and preventing damage to your property.
Sprinkler blowout can take place at any time before the ground freezes. Here in Utah, we know winter can be unpredictable. Each year is different, but September and October are typically the best months to turn off your irrigation system and prepare it for winter.
The time of the service depends entirely on how large your irrigation system is. Upon arrival, we’ll set up our equipment and evaluate the properly. It takes our technicians about three minutes to blowout one sprinkler zone, not including set up and take down. As an example, if your irrigation system has four zones, you can expect the service to take about 20 – 25 minutes.
If you forget to winterize your sprinkler system, you run the risk of winter’s cold temperatures causing the water in your pipes to freeze. As water freezes, it expands – which puts pressure on the pipes that can result in cracking or bursting completely. At best, the irrigation lines crack and all you’ll experience is a leak in your system next season. At worst, your pipes burst leading to significant flooding and damage within your home.
Although it’s possible to perform sprinkler winterization at home, it’s not recommended. Many irrigation systems require the licenses and experience of a licensed professional to maintain. Even with the most basic systems, leaving a little bit of water in the system can result in pipes bursting, which can be costly to replace. Sprinkler blowouts also require the use of a large air compressor, a resource which many homeowners don’t own or have access to.
For these reasons, sprinkler winterization is best left to the professionals. Our technicians are trained and equipped with the best technology to clear your system safely and efficiently.
